Welcome to the ACTualize Podcast & Blog Site

This part of the site functions as an interactive Q&A space as well as a psychoeducational space. Through short podcast episodes and blog posts, I aim to introduce you to ACT in an accessible way. My aim is also to write and record about topics that might be interesting for you. If you have a suggestion for a topic, you can fill out my contact form and I’ll see if I can write or talk about it. 🙂

The ACTualize Podcast | EP. 2 | What Are Values?

This week on the podcast, we’re diving into one of my all-time favorite ACT topics: values. I may or may not be overly excited in this episode, but that’s only because I truly believe values are one of the most powerful tools we have. They can act like a compass when life feels messy, guiding us through tough decisions and helping us reconnect with what really matters. 🧭 As promised, here’s the long but super useful list of values originally compiled by ACT trainer and author Russ Harris (2010). The ACTualize Podcast | EP.1 | Being Present

Welcome to the very first episode of the ACTualize Podcast! 🟠🎙️ This episode builds on my blog post about what Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) really is. After a short recap and an introduction to the ACT Hexaflex, we dive into the first core process: Contacting the Present Moment. You’ll hear about what this process involves, why present moment awareness matters, and how you can start practicing it in daily life. My goal is to make these seemingly complex ideas feel simple, practical, and useful. If that sounds like your thing, keep an eye out for the next episodes covering the remaining five ACT processes. Got questions or feedback? I’d love to hear from you! You can reach out through

I have to admit, I am a bit nervous because I haven’t done this before, but I really want to share how ACTualize came to be, and why it means so much to me. My name is Szofi, and I’m originally from Hungary, but I’ve been living in the Netherlands for over eight years now. My relationship with psychology started when I was 16. I had this British psychology teacher, Dr. Brian, who made everything, even classical conditioning, feel practical and alive. I knew then that I was drawn to understanding people, and this might be

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

According to the Cleveland Clinic: “Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of mental health therapy that helps you acknowledge your relationship with your thoughts and feelings. You learn to understand your feelings instead of changing them. You’ll work on reframing your values and adjusting your behaviors to better match them.” Yes, ACT is all that, but what really is ACT? Don’t get me wrong, scientific definitions are important but what I don’t want to do today is to make ACT seem like it’s a sort of method that is bigger and better than all other therapeutic modalities, add a bunch of complicated psychology words and hope that the general public who don’t spend most of their free times
